THE FITTING ROOM
Good questions.
Better ball choices.
Everything you need to understand the numbers, the recommendations and the final on-course test.
01How does GolfBallFit choose a ball?+
We score each model against the priorities you select—distance, dispersion, iron stopping power, wedge control and value. Your first priority receives the most weight. If you add simulator numbers, the fit also accounts for how your current launch and spin compare with the closest test-speed group.
02Do I need simulator numbers?+
No. The goal-based fit is designed to produce a useful shortlist on its own. If you have them, you can add any combination of driver club speed, ball speed, launch, spin and apex plus 7-iron ball speed, launch, spin, apex and descent angle. Every field is optional, and the fitter uses only the measurements you provide.
03Which simulator shots should I enter?+
Use averages from five to ten solid, representative shots with your current ball. Remove obvious mishits, but do not cherry-pick only your best swings. Normalized numbers are preferable if your simulator offers them.
04Why does wet wedge spin matter?+
Moisture between the clubface and ball can sharply reduce friction. A ball that retains more spin in wet testing may provide more predictable control from damp rough, morning dew and light rain.
05Is the longest ball always the best ball?+
Usually not. A few extra yards can come with a different flight, lower iron spin, wider dispersion or less greenside control. GolfBallFit makes those tradeoffs visible so you can choose the performance that actually lowers your scores.
06What does the fit score mean?+
It is a relative match score based on your stated priorities, budget and optional simulator profile. It is not a product quality grade. A 90% match for one golfer may be a poor fit for another.
07Where does the performance data come from?+
The measured performance is based on the 2026 MyGolfSpy golf ball test. Manufacturer descriptions are identified as brand positioning; they are not substituted for independent measurements.
08Are purchase links affiliate links?+
Some retailer links may earn GolfBallFit a commission if you buy, at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships never change the measured data or fitting score.
09Should I test the recommendation on the course?+
Yes. Treat the results as a tight shortlist. Compare your top two balls from the putting green backward—putting, chips, pitches, approaches and then driver—using the same conditions when possible.
